Tissue Recovery and Implantation
Catherine Dougherty is a highly experienced nurse with specialties of emergency and trauma as well as transplantation of both solid organs and musculoskeletal tissue. Before assuming her present role in an Emergency Department within the Baylor Healthcare System in Texas, she was Quality Manager and Technical Director, respectively, for the Transplant Services at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Dallas) and the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation (Edison, NJ). In these positions, she was responsible for the oversight screening of donor data essential for compliance with state and federal regulations germane to clinical transplantation activities.
Ms. Dougherty is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, a member the Emergency Department Nurses Association and has served as a sexual assault nurse examiner in both New Jersey and Texas. Her other positions in forensic and nursing organizations include serving on the Editorial Board of Critical Care Nursing Quarterly and as Editor for the newsletter of the International Association of Forensic Nurses. She is a chapter contributor to the Encyclopedia of Forensic Sciences as well as other current textbooks in the field. She is also highly experienced as a legal nurse consultant in both emergency and forensic nursing areas of specialization.
