FORENSIC WOUND RECOGNITION


COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to introduce the student to common physical injuries that may be associated with abuse, neglect and both intentional and unintentional trauma. The characteristic types of blunt and sharp force injuries are presented using a series of images which illustrate classic injuries. Course content places emphasis on wound recognition, classification of injuries, documentation of injuries and wound photography.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Distinguish among the various types of wounds
  2. Document wound characteristics
  3. Understand the vocabulary associated with wound recognition
  4. Classify wounds
  5. Use descriptive terms associated with wound identification
  6. Understand the importance of chain of custody

DURATION: All course requirements must be completed within 6 months of enrollment.

METHOD OF COURSE GRADING: Pass/fail grading system. Course examination is multiple choice and true/false statements. METHOD OF COURSE EVALUATION: After successful completion of the course examination, a course evaluation must be submitted to info@taife.com.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION: Upon completion of the course content, examination with a passing grade of 70% and evaluation, student will receive a certificate of completion.
